I absolutely love the sophisticated and beautiful paper items in the Ormolu Etsy shop. She has some wonderful and very inventive items on offer, including custom kraft paper chains, packaging labels, and several lines of circle tags.

So lovely! See for yourself!

Gone With the Weekend

Although I did have a bit of time to rest a little more this weekend than I have lately, I still feel oh so tired today and ready for Friday all over again. My poor husband had three papers to write, so I amused myself with some movies while he worked.

I watched Lost in Austen (yes, again) and during a short break from schoolwork on Friday night, we watched the 1939 version of The Adventures of Robin Hood.

A few weeks ago we saw The Wendell Baker Story, which I thought was fun and entertaining, if slightly far-fetched. But I am a fan of the Wilson brothers, and admittedly, not the toughest movie critic out there.

The Brothers Bloom, which I was so excited about, never came to Lubbock, of course, so it's at the top of our Netflix queue, and I hope it will be on its way to our house right after it releases tomorrow!

And I can't wait to see this one. I've heard wonderful things, and I think Audrey Tautou is just so charming. Who knows when we'll get it in our theatres here, but there's always my devoted friend Netflix if the worst befalls.

And the Winner Is .....

Rebekah! Whose birthday is today, coincidentally, so this was a birthday giveaway in more ways than one! Congratulations and Happy Birthday, Rebekah! I'll contact you to ask for your address.

I'm so thankful to everyone who left a comment and entered the giveaway drawing. It was so much fun that I think I may make it a monthly event, so check back often for future announcements, which I'll publicize here and on my Etsy front page.

You guys are great! Thank you for reading!

Giveaway Ends Today

Don't forget to enter the giveaway for my Rosings Park necklace, which ends tonight at 10:00pm CST! Details are in Monday's post, here. If I have a good enough response to this giveaway, I'll definitely do more in the future.

Oh, and be sure to go by and visit my Etsy shop today: Etsy just introduced this fantastic new feature where you can rearrange the order of items in your shop according to your own preference, so I did a little work this morning, and I think the effect is nice. I tried to place items in a color-grouped manner that I think shows them all off a little more. What do you think?

Favorite Things Friday

Finally got around to posting photos of the card I made for a friend and his wife who are expecting a baby soon. I was inspired by this post of Cathe Holden's to try a bit of creativity in the form of a pendant banner made of paper triangles and baker's twine. I also used a Martha Stewart bird punch, which I love, and a recently-acquired and already well-used Martha Stewart lace-edge punch.

I really like the effect of the paper pendant banner, especially with the sweet little birds holding up the string; I think I'll use this again. And the 'stitch lines' are actually just drawn on (sneaky).

DIY Thursday: Tiered Lazy Susan

I stumbled upon this great DIY project by Cathe Holden a couple of days ago over on her blog, Just Something I Made. She found a great vintage three tiered tea table, and turned it into a table-top lazy susan! I absolutely love this idea, and I can see myself using a similar piece to store my beads an craft supplies, just as she's done. Here are the photos showing the steps she took in the process, but you really must check out her explanation on her wonderful blog (where there are lots of free downloads and graphic freebies too!).

Isn't that so great! I love the collection of vintage glasswear that holds all of her bits and pieces. I think something like this would make my crafting table more organized and prettier!

Little Letters (Birthday Edition)

Dear Fall,
You got here just in time! Welcome to Lubbock! Please stay for more than 6 days this year. Please.

Dear Red Velvet cake,
I'm sure you know that you're especially tasty as a breakfast food. Mmmmmmm.

Dear Everyone who made my pink street Birthday Sale a success yesterday,
You guys are great! Thanks a heap!

Dear TXDOT,
Could you please, please, please stop tearing up the major roads on three sides of our house? Be honest, now, is that really entirely necessary? ... Yes, I thought not.

Dear Daddy,
Thank you for calling to sing Happy Birthday to me yesterday morning at 7:56am. It made me miss the days when I slept with a stuffed bear. And the days when I don't have to go to work and I should be sleeping until 9:30am.

Dear Abuelos,
Thank you for the lovely birthday dinner last night. The Sangria was delicious and the Tres Leches cake divine.

Dear Bret and Jemaine,
I'm looking forward to a glorious reunion this weekend. And every weekend after, because thanks to my sweet husband, you belong to me now.

Dear Husband,
Thank you for everything. It's hard to believe that you could treat me more like a princess than you do on every normal day, but you succeed in constantly surprising me. You're wonderful.

Dear Birthday,
I'm sad that I won't see you again for another 364 days. You were nice, but all you've left me with is another unnecessary year on my hands. ... {Sigh.} The glow is fading.

Dear Friends and Family who have teased me about getting old,
You'll always be older than me. You know who you are.

Just leave a comment on this post telling me how you found pink street (my blog or Etsy shop) and which item in my shop is your very favorite by 10:00pm this Friday (the 25th), and I'll enter your name in a drawing to be held Saturday for the necklace. I'll put your name in the pot twice if you post about my giveaway on your own blog or Facebook page! Good luck to everyone!

Nothing Much

I'm sorry, but the photos I'd planned to show you today of a card I made for a friend having a baby didn't get uploaded last night after all, so you'll just have to wait. But I do have some new items up in my shop, and several more recently moved into the Sale section. More new items to come soon, because next Tuesday, on my birthday, I'm offering a 22% discount off of any purchase from my shop, and I want to stock up to give everyone lots to choose from! Yay for birthdays and great deals!

Wish List Wednesday: Anthropologie Bag

I don't wear a lot of red -- though not on principle, like black -- I'm just not sure it's my color. But I do love red accessories, and when I stumbled upon this gorgeous bag in the Anthropologie sale section today, it was love at first sight. My birthday's coming up, so if I get a little birthday spending money, I think this is going at the top of my list.

I'm feeling kind of puny today and these lovely florals I found at small stump and studio choo (some photos pulled from studio choo's online shop), make me feel a little better.

Beautiful arrangments and all photos by small stump and studio choo. The two women behind all of this loveliness also have a weekly feature on design*sponge called "We Like It Wild". Whenever you're having a crumby day, their gorgous photos are sure to brighten you up.

Etsy Treasure Tuesday: decoylab

I've always admired the cheeky clocks and clever graphics at decoylab. Here are some of my favorites. I'm not one of those people who gives a lot of thought to the clocks in my home, although I rely on them and on my phone to get me where I need to be on time, since I stopped wearing a watch a few years ago. Perhaps I need to rethink this omission and invest in one or two -- they really constitute wall art as much as timekeepers, after all.

(All images by decoylab, pulled from the Etsy shop. Have a look around!)
