So, to thank all of you for being my readers, I'm giving away a Pink Street necklace which is brand new to the world -- it's never been seen by anyone but me in its short life yet. Her name is Fiona, and she features an ivory rose, a vintage and beautifully-etched brass paisley, and a vintage round raw brass locket, on a very delicate gold-plated chain. And one of you will win her next Monday!
Here's how you enter: just leave a comment on this post telling me what your favorite holiday decorating tradition is, or something crafty and handmade you plan to make for a gift this year. I intend to make many of my Christmas presents, and also to "spruce" up my house a little more than usual for the holidays, and would love to hear some of your ideas. Post your comment by 10:00pm on Saturday night!
One of my favorite Christmas decorating traditions is making popcorn and stringing it to put on the tree (while eating all of the 'broken' pieces). It's a fun thing for the family to do together and gives the Christmas tree a nice homemade feel.
ReplyDeleteI have so many plans for crafty gifts I want to make this year . . . I hope I get half of them done! Right now I'm working on some paper wreaths inspired by this work of art:

One of my favorite holiday decorating traditions is definitely Xmas trees!!! I love decorating xmas trees!
ReplyDeleteI loved it when we strung cranberries around the tree at your house one year. I think that may have been the year that Isaiah helped us decorate the tree! I can't tell you what homemade gifts I'm making this year because you are getting some! Ashlee
ReplyDeleteOoohhh I love this necklace and am crossing my fingers I win it! :) My favorite part of decorating is definitely the Christmas tree. My husband and I have put a lot of effort (and time and money) into our tree and we both agree it's the BEST Christmas tree either one of us have ever had, AND it's both of our dream tree. (Quite a feat, eh?) We decorated the tree this year while sipping hot chocolate and listening to Christmas music. Then afterwards we watched 'The Holiday', which is one of several movies that we only allow ourselves to watch a Christmas. It's a tradition that we've started and we hope to continue it when we have children. :) Congrats on all your accomplishments and good luck with your giveaway!
ReplyDeleteI make handmade soap sooo, I will probably be giving soapy type gift baskets this year.
ReplyDeleteWhat a gorgeous necklace! But then again, everything you make is gorgeous Sarah!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite decorating tradition is while I decorate, I like to blare my Nutcracker c.d. When my sister and I were younger, we made up ballet moves to music :)
P.S. I'll be sure to tell my blog friends about your giveaway!
As for Christmas presents, I'm planning on making flower "brooches" with feathers for my friends and all the girls in my family. I've already started on them and I can't wait to finish them!
I like to have the manger scene (it's so old it is falling apart I think) and I've always liked to sing "Away in a Manger" first to you grandkids and now to Sam (great-grand) and next year to "Baby Boy Irwin". I have more than one set, but the old one is still the best. Good luck on your giveaway. The necklace is beautiful!! Grammy
ReplyDeleteL.O.V.E. this necklace. Crossing my fingers!! My husband and I spent our first year married in a tiny little apartment and had no room for a large tree. So, we improvised and bought a tiny 3ft tree. We decorated it with some adorable vintage-inspired wooden ornaments. Surprisingly, hanging tiny little ornaments on a tiny little tree takes way more time than you would think. Anyway, this will be our fourth Christmas, and we have since moved out of our first tiny home. We have plenty of space for a big tree now, but we love our tradition so much that we still use our miniature tree. You can see some pics of it here :http://afterexperience.blogspot.com/2008/12/15-days.html
ReplyDeleteAs far as handmade creations, I am useless. However, last year my uber creative husband made ALL of our Christmas gifts. He made three of these small Asian-inspired cabinets : http://chasforeman.files.wordpress.com/2009/08/red-cabinet-open.jpg
p.s.- Can't wait to see my custom coral necklace and earrings! I'm so excited :)
I believe this Christmas I am going to sew all of my friends some boxer sleeping shorts in different patterns. I would definitely say my favorite tradition is decorating the tree. I decorated my little one in my apartment and then last night my friends and I put up their two christmas trees in their cottage and decorated them while playing and singing Christmas carols. It may be before Thanksgiving but I just call it dedicated to Christmas.
ReplyDeleteP.S. Your jewelry is awesome I love my necklace and bracelet!
Fiona is beautiful and elegant...just like you.
ReplyDelete(And I'm not just kissing up so you'll throw my name into the drawing twice...ok, maybe a little.)
I love putting our initials on the tree every year. And I'm excited about getting Cate a "baby's first Christmas" ornament. Guess she'll start some traditions of her own!
